The MVL/NUC track team is open to and welcomes students in grades 9(7)-12. As we work with the athletes, we encourage them to use their gifts to the best of their abilities and to the glory of the Lord. We expect them to display good sportsmanship and to encourage one another both in practice and in meets. We are encouraged as we see the athletes working together to develop athletic skills, and as we see them grow in friendship.
Once the regular season is completed, we participate in the MSHSL individual events post-season competition where the Lord continues to bless us with many athletes qualifying for the section meet. In fact, for the last 10 years, we also have had numerous individuals who have qualified for the state meet. We are thankful that all of the athletes are using their talents to the best of their ability and to the glory of God.
Check back here for the latest information and updates. Click the link under “Schedules” to be taken to the Tomahawk Conference site where you can find the scrimmage and meet schedule (You can create an account on the conference site so you can be notified if we have a weather-related change to the meet schedule). I will try to update this area with the practice schedule and other important announcements. Check here often!
In case of cancellation of practice de to weather or lack of available practice space, I will notify the AD’s as soon as a decision is made. They will see to it that an announcement is made. In case of snow days, if MVL does not have school, there is no track practice or meet.
If we are practicing at a different location (HS or JH track, Vogel, etc.), I will post that here so that everyone knows where to go. (When the weather is cooperative, the pole vaulters may be practicing at MLC.) Here is the schedule for the upcoming week(s).
With limited entries and limited room on the bus, we will not be able to take all of the athletes to all of the meets that are not in New Ulm or Sleepy Eye. I will try to have the line-ups posted the day prior to the meet so that the athletes will know whether or not they are going. If they are not participating in a meet, they will have that day off. I will try to rotate this as much as possible throughout the year, but there are some meets that are geared to the more advanced athlete so this will be difficult at times. In order to make sure that we have the best and most efficient rotation of athletes, please look at your schedules and let me know if there are times when an athlete will be missing or would prefer to be left off the line-up. Thank you.
New News: The weather continues to challenge us this year, but the coaches and athletes have maintained a positive attitude by focusing on what we can control and encouraging each other to battle on. While the field events may suffer a little at the beginning of the season, we should have the most conditioned team we have ever had with all of the training we have been able to get in!
Because our meet at Sleepy Eye on Monday has already been canceled, we will have a regular practice instead. We have added a meet (hopefully) this Thursday at Fairmont. Please be flexible to other changes as we try to find opportunities to compete. (As a side note to see how this weather is affecting the entire state, my son’s track team at Minnewaska traveled 3 hours to Bemidji last Thursday to participate in an all-day indoor meet with 34 other teams! – Don’t worry, we’re not going to Bemidji.) Here we go with what we hope to be our schedule for the upcoming days – we may have to cancel some practices at the last minute now as the gym is no longer available due to play practices:
